A Celebrity in Cardiac Surgery Will Deliver a Lecture at Medical University-Varna and Conduct a Seminar at UMHAT “St. Marina”

Prof. Dr. Marko Turina - Dean of the Medical Faculty, University of Zurich, Switzerland will be a guest lecturer at Medical University - Varna and at the Department of Cardiac Surgery at University Hospital "St. Marina" between 26-30 April 2017.

Prof. Dr. Turina's schedule includes:

  • Lecture entitled "Future Development of Heart Surgery", scheduled for 26thApril 2017 at 4 pm at 1st Auditorium of Medical University-Varna.
Seminar for surgeons, PhD students and undergraduate students, scheduled for 27th  and 28th April at 2.30 pm at "Helige" Room at University Hospital "St. Marina". It will include the following topics:
 
  • Critical Approach to Medical Literature and Statistics 
  • How to Write a Good Abstract 
  • How to Present Material at a Scientific Meeting: What to Do and What not to Do 
  • Surgery for Atrial Fibrillation

The seminar is intended for surgeons, post-graduate students and medical students who attend extra lessons in Cardiac Surgery. It will include a series of discussions and practical exercises aimed at training young scientists how to submit abstracts and manuscripts to international journals and how to present research at scientific meetings.

The registration for the seminar is carried out by Violeta Todorova - Technical Assistant at the Department of Cardiac Surgery at University Hospital "St. Marina" - Varna, tel. 052 978690 (ex. 1690) till 25th April 2017.

The lecture and the seminar will be in English.

Prof. Dr. Marko Turina is a Croatian cardiologist, director of Cardiovascular Centre at University Hospital in Zurich, Switzerland. He is one of the founders of the European Association for Cardio-Thoracic Surgery (EACTS) and a lecturer at its "Postgraduate School". Prof. Turina is one of the first medical doctors who have worked with congenital heart defects, and the first doctor in the world who has placed an artificial heart outside the chest wall.
