For the Eighth Consecutive Year the Students at MU - Varna Have Conducted the Campaign Teddy Bear Hospital

For the eighth consecutive year the Association of Medical Students in Varna and the Alliance of People with Rare Diseases in Varna, in partnership with the Student Council at MU - Varna and the Associations of Pharmacy Students and Students of Dental Medicine, have organized the Teddy Bear Hospital campaign. 88 students from different specialties and years of study participated in  it, while the number of children exceeded 90.

The campaign was launched on 19th February in the city of Shumen, and it continued at Grand Mall - Varna on 25th February. On 26th February it was conducted at the Department of Pediatrics at University Hospital "St. Marina", which is also a partner in the initiative. The little visitors took the role of medical doctors and "cured" the plush toys. There were more than ten doctor's offices in the improvised hospital.

The final part of the campaign is today – 27th February 2018. Prof. Dr. Dimitrichka Bliznakova is going to deliver a lecture on "Cardiovascular Diseases in Childhood - a Major Challenge for the Doctor - Pediatrician" at 6:00 pm at First Auditorium of Medical University - Varna.

Teddy Bear Hospital is an international project, loved by children worldwide. The campaign aims to acquaint little kids with the work of doctors, pharmacists and dentists in the most accessible and enjoyable for them way, and to help them overcome their fears of manipulations and white coats. The patients are the kids' plush toys, and the "teddy bear doctors" are the medical students from Varna Medical University. Playing games, kids learn a lot about hygiene, healthy way of eating and what actually takes place in a hospital. They communicate with the young doctors in a friendly and care-free way.
