Prof. Dr. Petko Marinov is the new Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy at Medical University - Varna. He was elected at a meeting of the General Assembly of the Faculty, which was held on 24thJune. Furthermore, new membership and structural composition of the Faculty Council was appointed during the General Assembly.
Professor of Biology Dobri Ivanov, Head of the Department of Biology, was elected Chairperson of the General Assembly of the Faculty, and Assoc. Prof. MPharm Anna Todorova, Head of the Department of Organization and Economics of Pharmacy, was elected Deputy Chairperson.
Background information: Prof. Dr. Petko Marinov, PhD, was born on 11thOctober 1959 in the village of Sokolovo, Dobrich District. In 1986 he graduated from Higher Medical Institute - Varna. Since 1990 he has been working at the Toxicology Department of Military Medical Academy-MHAT-Varna. In 1993 he defended a specialty in Internal Medicine, and in 1996 - in Clinical Toxicology. In 2004 he was conferred the educational and scientific degree "Doctor" in scientific specialty Toxicology, based on a dissertation defence. In 2010 he was elected Associate Professor at MU-Varna. Since 1993 he has been involved in the study course in Clinical Toxicology for fifth-year medical students and trainee-doctors at MU-Varna. In 2013 he obtained a Master's degree in Health Management.
In 2018 he was conferred the academic title of "Professor" and was elected Head of the Department of Pharmacology, Toxicology and Pharmacotherapy at the Faculty of Pharmacy at MU-Varna.
He has been a lecturer in Clinical Toxicology for medical students, Toxicology for pharmacists and assistant pharmacists, Pharmacotherapy for pharmacists, Fundamentals of Clinical Pharmacy for pharmacists, elective course in "Clinical Toxicology, Narcotic Substances Intoxications" for medical students.
Prof. Marinov has more than 70 publications in scientific journals, one monograph, over 150 participations at scientific congresses and conferences, two research implementations and four participations in research projects.
He is a member of the Bulgarian Medical Association.
