The textbook is a monographic work by Dr. Preslav Penev, Chief Assistant Professor at the Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology, and the process of working on it has taken three years. It was designed as a part of the Science Fund Project "Building a Diagnostic and Therapeutic Algorithm for Patients with Acute Front-Lateral Ankle Instability".
The book is highly specialised scientific literature intended predominantly for ankle and foot surgeons, but also for general orthopaedists and traumatologists, wishing to get acquainted with the diagnostics and treatment of this type of pathology. The text is visually enhanced with more than 110 original photographs and illustrations by the artist Yavor Grigorov.
"The project implementation is a result of the collaboration between Medical University "Prof. Dr. Paraskev Stoyanov" - Varna, Hospital for Active Treatment "St. Anna – Varna", University Multiprofile Hospital for Active Treatment and Emergency Medicine "N.I. Pirogov" - 1st Clinic of Orthopaedic Traumatology, and Hospital for Active Treatment "Targovishte" - Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology," said the Head of the Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dimitar Raykov.
Besides the leader Dr. Preslav Penev, the project also boasts the participation of Prof. Dr. Dimitar Raykov, Prof. Diyan Malushev, Dr. Emiliyan Georgiev, Dr. Radoslav Petrov, Dr. Blagovest Belchev, Konstantin Ganchev and Miroslav Raykov.
