The head of the Cardiac Surgery Clinic at UMHAT “St. Marina” - Varna, Prof. Dr. Plamen Panayotov was honoured with the award of the Bulgarian Medical Association “Physician of the Year 2019”. He was awarded by the President of the professional organization Dr. Ivan Madzharov at a solemn ceremony in Sofia. The high distinction, which is traditionally awarded by BMA on the eve of the Day of the Bulgarian Doctor, is recognition for his overall efforts and contribution.
“An exciting moment for me! I didn't expect to be the “Physician of the Year”, but I feel inspired by this award. For me, this is recognition for all those years when I have been working, and especially for the last 15 years, when I have worked as a lecturer at MU-Varna and a cardiac surgeon at UMHAT “St. Marina” – Varna,” said Prof. Panayotov when receiving the award. He thanked Prof. Krasimir Ivanov for the opportunities for development, as well as to his entire team.
Prof. Panayotov has more than 30 years of medical practice, and over 25 of them are in the field of Cardiac Surgery. For 15 years he has been a lecturer at MU-Varna and a leading cardiac surgeon at UMHAT “St. Marina”- Varna.
