The second revised and supplemented edition of Prof. Maria Valkanova's book "Medical Law" was published. The book provides a theoretical review of basic legal aspects of the Medical Law, including the patient's right to informed consent, medical secrecy, physician’s liability, patients at the end of their lives and euthanasia, transplantation of organs, tissues and cells, etc.
The book is focused on the new regulations compared to the current legal framework. It is supplemented in the part examining the patient’s right to informed consent, the patient's right to refuse treatment, mandatory treatment, the legal essence of the liability of physicians and medical professionals with regard to the duty to provide medical care and the the obligation of medical security.
The book is enriched through the institute of objective civil liability for damages and injuries caused to the patient. Moreover, the publication deals with civil objective liability of health care institutions for damages caused to the patient, as well as damages caused to the patient by objects, and circumstances, excluding liability.
The publication is also supplemented with the mandatory “professional indemnity” insurance.
