In a Few Days MU - Varna Celebrates the European Maritime Day with a Variety of Events

This year on 19 and 20 May Medical University – Varna plans a variety of initiatives and events in connection with the celebration of the European Maritime Day. In 2008 the European Union officially declared 20th May to be the European Maritime Day.

 The focus of the events is the national forum with international participation, entitled "Sea and Health", which will take place throughout the whole day on 20th May, at the Second auditorium of MU-Varna. The variety of health, ecological, legal, economic, professional, historical aspects of the Bulgarian maritime culture are to be discussed within the forum. Different proposals regarding the use of the seas, oceans and the river Danube as a national strategic priority are to be presented.

A demonstrative diving with an open lesson on Marine Medicine and Maritime Pathophysiology for Bulgarian and international university students of MU-Varna is to be conducted the day before, on 19 May, between 10:00 and 12:00. The photographer Orlin Tsanev is going to dive into the Black Sea waters and a team of the Department of Physiology at MU-Varna will conduct an open lesson, aiming to measure the changes of his physiological indicators. Furthermore, university students and lecturers are going to clean up the beach in Asparuhovo from 17:30 to 19:00.

15 participants, lecturers and students are going to present their photographs and paintings at a charity art exhibition "The Sea - Wealth and Inspiration", which will be located in the lobby and corridors of MU-Varna. Some of the paintings and the photographs will be put out to auction a little later, during the garden party, which will take place at the University campus. Medical University - Varna intends to support the research in the field of Marine Physiology with the funds raised.

There will be great fun, music and surprises for all the guests at the garden party, which will start at 6:00pm.
