The Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at MU - Varna, Prof. Dr. Zlatislav Stoyanov, expressed congratulations on behalf of the Rector of MU - Varna, Prof. Dr. Krasimir Ivanov, during the jubilee scientific conference dedicated to 140 years of the establishment of the Navy of the Republic of Bulgaria.
On the occasion of the jubilee celebration, Prof. Stoyanov also gave a special gift, a gold ship, to the Commander of the Bulgarian Navy - Rear Admiral Kiril Mihaylov.
Thanks to the collaboration between MU-Varna and N. Y. Vaptsarov Naval Academy, the innovative programmes of Military Doctor and Military Nurse have been established, which are very popular amongst the prospective students.
The opening ceremony was attended by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria Mr. Tomislav Donchev, the Regional Governor of Varna District Mr. Stoyan Pasev, the Mayor of Varna Mr. Ivan Portnih, the Rector of N. Y. Vaptsarov Naval Academy Flotilla Admiral Prof. Boyan Mednikarov, the Chief of Staff of the Bulgarian Navy Cap. Kamen Kukurov, Acad. Stefan Vodenitcharov and many representatives of other political and educational institutions.
In the congratulation by the Rector was said, "Since its establishment, the Bulgarian Navy has been capable of meeting the demands for officer cadres. Your remarkable progress is underway at the present time as well. I am proud of the fact that for 140 years already you have been able to treasure up and develop the necessary knowledge in order to build up and enhance the competencies of leaders and experts, capable of commanding the naval forces of the Republic of Bulgaria. Without your selfless work, without your efforts, knowledge and skills, unreservedly dedicated to the Naval Forces, the accomplishment of these lofty objectives would have been inconceivable."
The Jubilee Conference of the Naval Forces is a part of the events dedicated to the security of the Republic of Bulgaria. Prof. Zlatislav Stoyanov and the entire management of MU-Varna were invited to attend the ceremony of awarding the first officer rank to the graduates of N. Y. Vaptsarov Naval Academy.
