The Minister of Health Mr. Kiril Ananiev Opened the Renovated Neurosurgery Clinic at UMHAT “St. Marina”-Varna

The renovated Neurosurgery Clinic at the Varna University Hospital "St. Marina" was opened with a solemn blessing for health and welfare, served by His Eminence Yoan, the Metropolitan of Varna and Veliki Preslav. The ribbon was cut by the Minister of Health Mr. Kiril Ananiev, the CEO of UMHAT "St. Marina"- Varna Prof. Dr. Valentin Ignatov and the Mayor of Varna Mr. Ivan Portnih. The opening was also attended by the Rector of Medical University-Varna Prof. Dr. Krasimir Ivanov, the District Governor of Varna Mr. Stoyan Pasev, the Director of RHI-Varna Dr. Dochka Mihaylova, the Director of the Regional Health Insurance Fund-Varna Dr. Diyan Dimov, the Head of the Neurosurgery Clinic Prof. Dr. Yavor Enchev, representatives of the academic management of MU-Varna, physicians, lecturers, media and patients.

At the opening Minister Ananiev said, "We are doing all this in order to modernise the technological facilities and equipment of the medical establishment, to improve the working conditions for the people at the hospital and, ultimately, to enhance the quality and efficiency of the medical services for the citizens, who are being treated at the University Hospital. A number of key departments, clinics, wards has been modernized and supplied with state-of-the-art equipment with the investments that have been made. Undoubtedly, I'll have to emphasize on the involvement of the University Hospital, which with its own funds amounting to BGN 570 000, has renovated and equipped the Clinic of Neurosurgery with the most cutting-edge technology. I wish to express my heartfelt congratulations to the team and to wish them to work with confidence and responsibility, bestowing health on the people, under these new more favourable working conditions."

The Minister went on to share his satisfaction with the investment of the Ministry of Health for delivering and installing one of the most up-to-date and high-tech imaging apparatus SPECT/CT for the Nuclear Medicine Clinic. The new equipment provides a great opportunity for expanding the spectrum of tests, diagnostics and prevention of diseases for patients who need early diagnostics and relevant therapy. The Minister also pointed out the investments in six new hemodialysis apparatus for the Department of Hemodialysis, for which BGN 100 000 had been provided from the budget of the Ministry of Health; the investment in the Laboratory of the Department of Forensic Medicine, for which the Ministry of Health had provided an additional amount of BGN 236 000 for repairing, purchase of microscopes and new modern equipment; as well as BGN 177 000 for repairing and furnishing the Second Psychiatric Clinic. "I am positive that all these investments made jointly by the Hospital, the University and the Ministry will enhance the quality and efficiency of medical care, will consolidate the position of the University Hospital as a flagship, modern hospital not only in Varna and in the region, but in the whole country. I believe that these investments will make people feel satisfied," added the Minister.


His Eminence Yoan, the Metropolitan of Varna and Veliki Preslav said, "Medical University-Varna is a world-class University, with exceptional scientists, lecturers, with plenty of foreign students from various countries, together with University Hospital "St. Marina", which has become a centre of crucial importance not only in Northeastern Bulgaria, but throughout the whole country. So, consequently, we as patients unconditionally lay our trust in these people."

During the celebration for the opening of the renovated Neurosurgery Clinic, the Metropolitan announced, "Our management would like to pay its extremely sincere, heartfelt homage to your absolute work for the success of Man and his health, and would like to honour Prof. Dr. Krasimir Ivanov with the highest Order of the Diocese – the Order in the name of St. Ap. Andrey, because we believe that he is the collective image of Medicine in this city. I wish everyone of you good health."

The Minister's visit continued at the Specialised Hospital for Active Treatment of Eye Diseases-Varna, where he had a meeting with the management and the physicians at the hospital.
