The Sailing Team of MU-Varna Took Part in the International Regatta "Cor Caroli" 2017

The sailing team of MU-Varna took part for the first time in the international Regatta "Cor Caroli" 2017. From 12th to 15th August the teams competed in IRC, ORC and Free class.

The start of the races was given in Burgas. The future medics competed in the races with their own yacht "Hygia", and on the first day they ranked 5th in IRC class and 6th in ORC class. Moreover, the recently created team of MU-Varna was the youngest among the teams of the 50 yachts in the competition. The unfavourable weather conditions did not allow our sailors to complete the races during the next two days.

For the needs of the Regatta, MU-Varna and University Hospital "St. Marina" provided a water ambulance with a medical team and a life guard, who took care of the participants during the different stages.

The new motor boat "Panacea" of MU-Varna, which has all the necessary equipment to act in case of marine incidents, and the team of specialists from the Department of Anaesthesiology, Resuscitation and Emergency Medicine at University Hospital "St. Marina" were a prerequisite for the safe and peaceful participation of the crews in the tense race in the section from Byala to Varna. They were also available on 15th August at the closing stage of the competition in the Gulf of Varna.

MU - Varna takes pride in the fact that it is one of the very few universities in Bulgaria that provide its students with the opportunity to develop this attractive and beautiful marine sport, which is  highly desired in the most prestigious universities in the world such as Oxford, Harvard, Cambridge, Brown.
