MU - Varna with a Record Number of Gold Medals at the 18th Varna Universiade

​The Swimming Tournament at the 18th Varna Universiade was held on 22nd April 2017 (Saturday) at Primorski Swimmimg Pool. The team of MU-Varna, including Botsaris, Reichelt, Dimitrov, Stoyanova and Bogunov, with a coach Petyo Hristov, won the 1st place in 5x50m freestyle relay.

The second-year medical student Antonia Stoyanova won 1st place in 50m butterfly women with a record time of 33.10s and 1st place in 50m freestyle women.

Anne Reichelt - second-year medical student, English-language training, ranked first in 50m backstroke women and second in 50m freestyle women. Nele Rudolph - second-year student in Dental Medicine, English-language training, won gold in 50m breaststroke women.

Christophoros Botsaris - second-year student, majoring "X-ray Laboratory Assistant", became third in 50m butterfly men, Nora Pendo, third-year medical student, English-language training, won two silver medals in 50m backstroke women and 50m breaststroke women.

The first-year student in Dental Medicine Dimitar Dimitrov and the second-year medical student became second, respectively in 50m backstroke men and 50m freestyle men.

In the final complex ranking MU-Varna won the first place with a record of 565 points, followed by the team of the Naval Academy with 371 points and UE - with 270 points.


The team of MU-Varna won also first places in the Bowling and Chess Tournaments. At the Table Tennis competition the men ranked second, the women - 4th. The volleyball ranking looks similarly.

The prize award ceremony for the winners in all sports will be held on 29th April 2017 at 6 pm at Yunashki Salon - Varna.

The Basketball, Football, Tennis Tournaments and the Athletics Race will be held this week.

The Amateur Volleyball League in Varna was held last week, where the volleyball team of MU-Varna, with a coach Boris Yankov, ranked first among 15 competing teams, winning over the team of Beloslav at the playoffs.
