The handball team of MU-Varna has become a champion in the Eastern "B" National Men's Handball Group. The sports event organizer is the Bulgarian Handball Federation.
Representative teams of four cities took part in the competition, held for Northeastern Bulgaria – "MU-Varna" - for the city of Varna, "Shumen" - representing the city of Shumen, "Kaliakra" - for the city of Kavarna, and "Marten" - for Ruse. The tournament took place in several rounds, starting in September 2018 and finishing in April 2019. The games were played in the cities of Ruse, Kavarna and Shumen. The team of MU-Varna played six games, winning four and losing two of them. With the crushing eight points, the team won the first place in the final ranking.
The University sports team consists of players from the Bulgarian and English-language training programmes, including - Byarne Nichman, Georgi Georgiev, Michael Stab, Stefan Nulis, Johannes Krig, Dennis Vegner, Florian Bistman, Tsvetomir Hristov, Rob Rosgen, Jean Popov, Nicholas Fuchs , Stanislav Petrov, Boris Borisov and Stoyan Stankov. The men's team coach is Penko Zlatev.
The next competition, with the participation of our boys, is the National Student Universiade, which is to be held in May in Varna.
