Representative of MU-Varna Was Awarded at the National Conference on Gastroenterology

National Conference on Gastroenterology with international participation, entitled “Precanceroses of the Gastrointestinal Tract”, was held at Melia Grand Hermitage Hotel, Golden Sands, from 9th to 11th May 2019. An organizer of the event was the Bulgarian Society of Gastroenterology (BSGE).

Within a few days, gastroenterology specialists discussed topics related to precanceroses of the stomach, small intestine, colon and rectum, pancreas, and hepatobiliary precanceroses.

An Endoscopy School and a session for young doctors were also held within the forum. For the first time in the history of the conference, a panel called “Young Gastroenterologists” has been held, which included a Gastrointestinal Endoscopy School  and a scientific session with plenary reports by young doctors. The session was organized by BSGE and the Association of Young Hepato-Gastroenterologists in Bulgaria - an official section of young doctors in BSGE.

The Association already has an official representative for the Varna region, and that is Dr. Violeta Snegarova. During the Young Gastroenterologists' scientific session, she presented her work in the form of a plenary report, entitled “New Serum Biomarker Predicts Response to Pancreatic Cancer Therapy”. The Association of Young Hepato-Gastroenterologists in Bulgaria is a non-governmental organization, bringing together young doctors (up to 35 years of age), working in the field of gastroenterology, and medical undergraduate students interested in the specialty.

The work of Dr. Radislav Nakov, Chair of the Association of Young Hepato-Gastroenterologists in Bulgaria, was awarded for "Best Abstract".
