With a solemn blessing ceremony were inaugurated the new chapel "St. Stylianos" and the external elevator at SHOGAT "Prof. Dr. Dimitar Stamatov" - Varna.
The church is a donation by the Varna Bishopric and was built earlier this year. The event was attended by the District Governor Mr. Stoyan Pasev, the Mayor Mr. Ivan Portnih, representatives of the local authorities, the academic board of the University, as well as many other guests.
"I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to the Municipality of Varna and the Mayor Mr. Portnih for the dedicated support for the implementation of this project, as well as to my assistants Mrs. Emiliya Stefanova, Mrs. Bakardzhieva and the daily assistance of Eng. Stoyanov and Eng. Pashov, because without their help this project would not have been accomplished," expressed his gratitude Prof. Dr. Emil Kovachev, CEO of Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital - Varna.
At the initiative of His Eminence Metropolitan of Varna and Veliki Preslav Yoan, the church was named after "St. Stylianos of Paphlagonia", known as the patron saint of infants and children. The funds for the construction of the God's house were donated entirely by the Varna Bishopric. The second acquisition that was opened is the external elevator of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital, built with the help of the Municipality of Varna.
"I always feel excited when I am in this building, because I recall the birth of my two kids here. I wish to thank to all of you who work here, to the management, to the whole team for your dedicated care, especially over the recent months under the complicated circumstances. I am delighted that over the recent years, we have succeeded, through various projects and programmes, to provide help for the improvement of the facilities of this wonderful hospital. More than a million and a half have been invested in the hospital facilities recently. However, the women's health prevention programmes are extremely important, and this should continue and find its way. Be healthy!" said the Mayor of Varna, Mr. Ivan Portnih.
The District Governor of Varna, Mr. Stoyan Pasev, addressed the audience with the words, "This hospital is extremely important not only for the city of Varna, but for the entire district and the whole of Northeastern Bulgaria. We thank the Municipality of Varna for improving not only the quality of life, but also the quality of work. We would also like to thank the contractor firms."
The Director of "International Cooperation, Accreditation and Quality" Directorate at MU-Varna Prof. Todorka Kostadinova read a congratulatory address on behalf of the Rector of MU-Varna Prof. Dr. Valentin Ignatov and expressed her congratulations on the new acquisitions to the management of the hospital.
832 babies have been born at SHOGAT "Prof. Dr. Dimitar Stamatov" - Varna since the beginning of this year.
