On the eve of 24th May - the Day of the Bulgarian Culture and Slavonic Alphabet the Rector of Medical University - Varna Prof. Dr. Krasimir Ivanov awarded the distinction Honorary Blue Ribbon to lecturers of great merit for the 15th consecutive year. The award ceremony took place on 21st May 21 at First Auditorium of MU-Varna.
This year the prestigious award was received by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Atanas Penev for his great merit in the field of Intensive Cardiology, for active scientific, management and longtime teaching activities and for his contribution to the development of the Department of Internal Medicine at MU - Varna and the Clinic of Interventional Cardiology at University Hospital "St. Marina" - Varna.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Minko Minkov was the second awarded with the Blue Ribbon Award for great merit in the field of Preclinical Sciences, for active scientific and longtime teaching activities, and for the development of the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology at Medical University - Varna.
The student community at MU-Varna was awarded with a Collective Honorary Award for active student activities, for organizing the Black Sea Symposium for Young Scientists, for organizing, conducting and exceptional participation at the Festival of Medical Universities, for the uncompromising sports victories and winning the Complex Winner Cup at the Varna Universiade in 2018, and for special contribution to establishing and enhancing the prestige of Medical University - Varna at local, national and international level.
During the ceremony Mrs. Maria Ruseva, from the World Health Organization, was awarded with an Honorary Plaque of the Rector for her contribution to strengthening the regional healthcare cooperation, the development of the relations between Medical University - Varna and the South - eastern Europe Health Network (SEEHN), as well as for supporting Medical University - Varna in its endeavour to become an educational and expert centre for training health professionals.
The diplomas for academic positions "Professor" and "Associate Professor", and PhD degrees for the first six months of 2018 were awarded during the ceremony as well.
