Assoc. Prof. Decheva-Ikonomova, MD, graduated from the Medical University of Varna in 1985. Since 1990, she has been an assistant professor at the Department of Physiology of the Medical University of Varna. She has a degree in Physiology (1993) and a master's degree in Public Health (2003). In 2014, she defended her dissertation on the topic: "Study of the regulatory effects of vitamin D analogues on calcium-phosphorus metabolism during renal function replacement" in the scientific specialty of Animal and Human Physiology. In 2016, she was elected as an associate professor at the Medical University of Varna.
Assoc. Prof. Decheva-Ikonomova has over 30 publications and 25 participations in scientific congresses. Her scientific developments are mainly related to the problems of replacement therapy in impaired renal function and the regulation of calcium-phosphorus metabolism. She is a co-author of a manual for practical classes in physiology for students of medicine, dentistry and pharmacy.
