Prof. Dr. Ilko Bakardzhiev, MD graduated from the Medical University in the seaside capital in 1994. He specialized in the field of dermatovenereology in Varna - at the Clinic of Skin and Venereological Diseases, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Zlatko Penev, MD, in Sofia - under Prof. Nevena Berova, MD, as well as in Germany, Malta, Spain, France and Italy.
In 2000, he acquired a specialty in skin and venereal diseases. After successfully defending his dissertation on the topic "Modern aspects in the etiology, diagnosis and treatment of non-gonococcal urethritis", in 2007 he was awarded the educational and scientific degree of "doctor".
In 2013 he was elected as an associate professor at the Medical College, Medical University of Varna and head of the Board of Directors "Medical Cosmetologist". He successfully completed training in the field of aesthetic dermatology, dermatoscopy, cryo and laser therapy.
In 2023 he was elected as a "professor".
Prof. Dr. Bakardzhiev, MD has been the supervisor of four successfully defended doctoral students.
He is the author of over 100 publications, two contributions to monographs and one independent utility model with applications in dermatology, venereology, obstetrics and gynecology and aesthetic medicine. He has over 100 contributions to national and international scientific forums.
He is a member of the Bulgarian Dermatological Society, the Union of Scientists in Bulgaria, the Balkan Association for the History of Medicine, the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology, as well as the International Society of Dermatology and the International Dermoscopy Society. He is the organizer of one of the largest dermatological forums in Bulgaria - "Spring Dermatological Days". He is the Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the journal "Dermatological Review" and is on the editorial board of the journal Clinical Research in Dermatology. He is fluent in spoken and written English and Russian.
