Dr. Aleksandar Petrov was born on July 8, 1990, in Varna, Bulgaria. In 2009, he graduated with honors from the First Language High School in Varna with a specialization in German. He then went on to graduate with honors in 2015 from the Medical University "Prof. Dr. Paraskev Stoyanov" – Varna, majoring in Medicine. In 2014, he participated in a student exchange under the ERASMUS program at the “Krankenhaus der Augustinerinnen" Hospital in Cologne, Germany. Immediately after graduation, he began working at the Clinic of Nephrology and Dialysis at University Hospital “St. Marina" – Varna, initially as a part-time assistant, and from 2016 as a full-time assistant. He is proficient in German (C1 level) and English.
In July 2020, he successfully passed the state exam and obtained a specialty in Nephrology. In 2021, he earned a PhD in Nephrology with a dissertation titled:
“Level of Awareness Among Chronic Kidney Disease Patients Regarding Kidney Transplantation and the Role of Awareness in Choosing Renal Replacement Therapy."
Since 2022, he has held the position of Senior Assistant in the Teaching Sector of “Nephrology, Dialysis, and Toxicology" within the Second Department of Internal Medicine.
He has participated in numerous professional development courses and has published in both Bulgarian and international journals. Dr. Petrov has also presented at various scientific symposia and conferences with both poster and oral presentations, some of which have received awards.
