Born in 1966. In 1985, he graduated from the First Language School in Varna and earned his medical degree from the Medical University of Varna in 1993. He began his clinical career as a district physician in the village of Kipra, Varna region. In 1994, he became a resident physician, and in the following 1995, an assistant professor at the Department of Internal Medicine. He has acquired specialties in internal medicine (1999) and cardiology (2001) and is a certified European specialist in arterial hypertension. He has completed residencies in Austria and Switzerland. In 2014 defended his dissertation on the topic "The Role of Coronary Artery Calcium Score in Risk Stratification of Asymptomatic Individuals and Patients with Chest Pain Without Known Coronary Artery Disease." Since 2015 he has been an associate professor in cardiology.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Atanas Angelov has over 75 scientific publications, including the monograph "Non-cardiac comorbidities and heart failure," as well as over 100 participations in international and national scientific congresses and conferences. His primary professional and scientific interests are in the fields of cardiovascular imaging, heart failure, and ischemic heart disease. A significant part of his scientific publications focuses on the application of computed tomography in the non-invasive diagnosis of coronary artery disease.
