Born on 24. 06. 1961 in Burgas. Graduated in medicine at the Varna Medical University in 1988 as an honours graduate. Since 1993 he has been an assistant professor in the Department of Cardiology and Rheumatology, since 1998 he has been a senior assistant professor in the same department and subsequently in the Department of Internal Medicine. Since 2018 he is Professor in First Department of Internal Medicine of MU – Varna and Vice Dean "Science and Research and Career development". In 1993 he obtained his MSc in epidemiology of non-communicable diseases and biostatistics at Erasmus University, Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Acquired specialties: internal medicine (1994); cardiology (1998) and Social Medicine and Health Management (2002) In 2007 she defended her thesis on "Global cardiovascular risk assessment for the development of ischemic heart disease in women".
He has over 40 publications and 60 participations in scientific congresses. His main research interests are in the field of ischemic disease in women, preventive cardiology, arterial hypertension, heart failure, obesity and cardiovascular disease, sleep apnea.
Member of board of Directors of the SCD, Board of Directors of the Heart-Lung Association, SWB, ESC, EAE, EACPR, ESH. Chair of the Echocardiography Working Group of the SCD, former Chair of the Epidemiology, Prevention and Rehabilitation Working Group of the SCD. He has a recognized European specialty in hypertension. Member of the editorial board of the journal Bulgarian Cardiology.
