Dr. Tsochev was born on January 22, 1990, in Kazanlak. He graduated from the Medical University of Varna in 2015. After graduation, he was appointed as a researcher and coordinator for the Feel4Diabetes project (EU-funded, 2014-2019), which aimed to develop, implement, and evaluate an evidence-based and potentially cost-effective program for the prevention of type 2 diabetes across Europe.
Since 2017, Dr. Tsochev has been involved in the "GrowInform" project, which focuses on raising public awareness about growth disorders through mass awareness methods. In the same year, his team from the Department of Pediatrics won a national grant from the Scientific Research Fund of the Ministry of Education and Science for the project "Cardiovascular and metabolic risk associated with visceral fat mass in patients with long-standing type 1 diabetes mellitus." Under this project, he enrolled as a doctoral candidate with the thesis topic "Assessment of metabolic risk in relation to visceral fat mass and physical activity in patients with long-standing type 1 diabetes mellitus" under the supervision of V. Iotova.
In 2018, Dr. Tsochev won a grant with a full scholarship to cover the costs of the GACD/FAPESP (Global Alliance for Chronic Diseases and Sao Paolo Research Foundation in Campinas) program for training in Brazil on Implementation Science and Noncommunicable Diseases. In 2019, he received a full grant and was nominated in the Top 20 for abstract and poster at the European Congress of Pediatric Endocrinology (ESPE 2019), a significant achievement for his team and mentors. He has participated in scientific forums in Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic, Italy, Finland, Belgium, Greece, the Netherlands, England, Serbia, and Bulgaria.
From 2019 to 2024, Dr. Tsochev won scholarships from the National Program "Young Scientists and Postdoctoral Fellows" through competitive selection. In 2020 and 2021, he was awarded grants to cover the costs of the annual ISPAD meetings. In 2021, he received a full grant to participate in the annual science school of the International Diabetes Community (ISPAD). Since the beginning of 2021, he has been involved in the DigiCare4You project (Horizon 2020) with a four-year statute of limitations. Throughout his studies, he has supported the pediatric endocrinology community and has been part of the Summer Diabetes Camps.
In 2022, Dr. Tsochev specialized in Pediatrics at the Department of Pediatrics at the University Hospital "St. Marina" in Varna. Since 2023, he has been a resident in pediatric endocrinology and metabolic diseases at the 1st Pediatric Clinic of the University Hospital "St. Marina" in Varna. In 2024, he received a scholarship from the Ministry of Health's educational program as a resident in the rare specialty of pediatric endocrinology and metabolic diseases.
