She graduated from an English language high school and then from the Medical University in Varna. Since 1991, she has been an assistant at the Department of Physiology at MU–Varna, and she obtained a specialization in Physiology in 1995. In 2009, she defended her dissertation on the topic: "Behavioral responses induced by vasoactive intestinal peptide administered into the hippocampus of rats with an experimental model of depression."
She
has over 90 publications, many of which are in prestigious international
journals, and more than 70 participations in national and international
scientific forums. She is the author and co-author of 7 educational manuals in
physiology. Her main research is in the field of experimental neurophysiology—studying
the involvement of the brain's endocannabinoid system, the renin-angiotensin
system, and certain neuropeptides in mechanisms of depression-like states
