Assoc. Prof. Dr. Milena Belcheva graduated from the Medical University of Varna. From 1986 to 1989, she completed a clinical residency at the Department of Pediatrics, and in 1993 she was elected as a full-time assistant at the same department. She has acquired specialties in pediatrics (1991), oncology (2004) and pediatric clinical hematology and oncology (2006). From 1998 to 2000, she specialized in pediatric oncology at the Department of Pediatrics of the Institut Gustave-Roussy in Paris, France, with a diploma in pediatric oncology (Diplôme Universitaire d'Oncologie Pédiatrique - Université Paris XI, 199). In 2021, she defended her dissertation on the topic “Cardiovascular changes, cardiometabolic risk and bone health after successful therapy of malignant hemopathies in childhood". In 2021 she was habilitated as an associate professor in pediatrics. Since 2023 she has been the head of the Clinic of Pediatric Clinical Hematology and Oncology at the University Hospital "St. Marina" Varna and of the Expert center for coagulopathies and rare anemias. Main scientific interests - in the field of pediatric oncology and
hematology, assessment and treatment of pain in childhood, late effects of
therapy and quality of life in patients with malignant diseases.
