Dr.
Milena Stoyanova, PhD, MD, was born on January 16, 1978, in Yambol, Bulgaria.
She graduated in Medicine from the Medical University of Varna in 2002. Since
2009, she was appointed as an
Assistant Professor in the Section of Medical Genetics (now the Department of
Pediatrics and Medical Genetics). In 2018, she began full-time PhD studies, and
in 2022, she successfully defended her dissertation titled “Genetic
Diagnostic Study Among Pediatric Patients with Hereditary Pathologies Who
Received Genetic Counseling.” In 2010, she obtained a medical specialty in
Pediatrics, and in 2018, in Medical Genetics. In 2023, she was appointed Chief
Assistant Professor at the Department.
Dr. Stoyanova has authored over 40 full-text publications and contributed to more than 40 national and international scientific forums. Her professional and research interests focus on hereditary and congenital pathologies in childhood, as well as rare dysmorphic syndromes.
She
is a member of the Bulgarian Society of Human Genetics, the Bulgarian
Paediatric Association, the European Society of Human Genetics (ESHG), and the
Bulgarian Society of Human Genetics and Genomics.
