Биография

Dr. Minka Hristova is a chief assistant prof. in ES Pathophysiology at the Medical University "Prof. Dr. Paraskev Stoyanov" in Varna, Bulgaria.

Born on May 23, 1971, in Topolovgrad, she graduated from the Mathematics High School "N. Lobachevsky" in Yambol in 1989 and earned her medical degree from the Higher Medical Institute in Plovdiv in 1995. She began her academic career in 2002 as an Assistant in the Department of Pathophysiology and has served as a Chief Assistant since 2016.

In 2007, Dr. Hristova received her specialization in Pathophysiology. She defended her doctoral dissertation in 2016 on the topic “Study of Potential Mechanisms of Gastric Mucosal Injury and the Effect of Melatonin in Model of Thermal Skin Trauma", under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ganka Bekyarova, MD, PhD, DSc.

She also completed specialized training in 2015 at Trakia University – Stara Zagora, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, on the topic of “Protection and humane treatment of experimental animals used for scientific or educational purposes". Dr. Hristova teaches lectures and practical courses in Pathophysiology to students in Medicine, Dental Medicine, Pharmacy, and Rehabilitation programmes. She is a co-author of three educational manuals in the field.

Her scientific contributions include over 20 publications and presentations at national and international scientific forums. She was awarded “Best Poster Presentation" at the XX National Congress of the Bulgarian Anatomical Society and the IX International Symposium of Clinical Anatomy (Varna, 2011).

Research interests: oxidative stress, inflammation, melatonin, trauma, gastroenterology.​​​
