Dr. Miroslava Benkova-Petrova was born on December 31, 1985, in Ruse, Bulgaria. In 2004, she graduated with honors from the “Baba Tonka" Mathematics High School in Ruse. From 2004 to 2010, she studied Medicine at the Medical University "Prof. Dr. Paraskev Stoyanov" – Varna, where she also graduated with distinction in 2010.
In January 2011, she began working as a resident physician at the Clinic of Nephrology and Dialysis at University Hospital “St. Marina" – Varna. In 2016, she successfully passed the state exam for specialization in Nephrology. That same year, she was initially appointed as a part-time and later as a full-time assistant in Nephrology.
In 2021, she obtained her PhD in Nephrology with a dissertation titled:
“Relationship Between Erythropoietin Resistance and Secondary Hyperparathyroidism in Dialysis Patients."
Since 2022, she has held the position of Senior Assistant in the Teaching Sector of “Nephrology, Dialysis, and Toxicology" within the Second Department of Internal Medicine.
She has participated in numerous professional development courses and has publications in both Bulgarian and international scientific journals. Dr. Benkova-Petrova has presented at a variety of scientific symposia and conferences, with both poster and oral presentations—some of which have received awards.
