Assoc. Prof. Silvia Gancheva was born on 20.12.1982 г. in Silistra. She obtained her medical master degree in 2007 at Medical University “Prof. Dr. Paraskev Stoyanov" – Varna. In 2008, she was appointed to the position of “Assistant professor" in the Department of Pharmacology and Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics. She acquired a specialty in Pharmacology in 2017. She acquired a PhD degree in 2018 after a successful defense of a doctoral thesis entitled “Effects of Vitamin K in an Experimental Model of Metabolic Syndrome". Since January 2022, she has held the academic position of Associate Professor, and in March of the same year she was elected Head of the department. She has participated in seven research projects supported by the Science Fund of MU-Varna. Her scientific activity is focused on research in the field of metabolic syndrome, behavioral pharmacology, biological role of vitamin K and the vitamin K-dependent protein osteocalcin, effects of biologically active substances of natural origin in experimental models, and drug interactions.
Assoc. Prof. Silvia Gancheva is an author of a monograph entitled „Kochia scoparia – the health benefits of a “common" plant". She is a co-author of over 40 full-text publications and has participated in over 70 national and international scientific forums. She is a co-author of 1 textbook and 6 manuals in pharmacology.
