Dr Stefan Nikolaev Yambolov is a cardiology Assistant Professor at the Department of cardiology and rheumatology at the Medical University of Varna and a cardiology resident at the Second Cardiology Clinic – Interventional Cardiology, St. Marina University Hospital, Varna, Bulgaria.
He graduated with honours in Medicine from the Medical University “Prof. Dr. Paraskev Stoyanov” – Varna in 2022. During his medical studies, he served as a teaching demonstrator in the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology, teaching students in both Bulgarian and English. In February 2023, he joined the Second Cardiology Clinic – Interventional Cardiology following a competitive selection process. In 2026, he obtained a master’s degree in Healthcare Management.
Since June 2024, he has been pursuing a PhD in Cardiology, with a dissertation entitled “The Role of Infrared Thermography in Ruling In or Ruling Out Epicardial Coronary Artery Disease”. His research focuses on the diagnostic applications of infrared thermography, coronary artery disease, and coronary microcirculation. He has authored and co-authored more than 15 publications in indexed Bulgarian and international scientific journals. He took part in numerous symposiosiums and conferences in the country.
His clinical interests include interventional cardiology, particularly the diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic coronary syndromes, as well as structural heart interventions.
He holds the Cambridge English: C2 Proficiency qualification, obtained in 2018, and is also fluent in Russian.
