Ch. Assist. Prof. Tihomir Venelinov Drenski, MD, PhD was born on September 14, 1981, in Varna, Bulgaria. He graduated with a medical degree from the Medical University "Prof. Dr. Paraskev Stoyanov" – Varna in 2006.
In 2009, he began his clinical career as a neurology resident at the Second Clinic of Nervous Diseases, which includes the Stroke Unit and the Intensive Care Unit for Neurological Diseases, at St. Marina University Hospital – Varna.
Ch. Assist. Prof. Tihomir Drenski, MD, PhD has been a board-certified Specialist in Neurology since January 1, 2015. He further obtained professional certifications in:
- Ultrasound Diagnostics of the Nervous System (2016)
- Clinical Electroencephalography (2017)
In February 2017, following a competitive selection, he was appointed Assistant Professor at the Department of Neurology and Neurosciences, Medical University "Prof. Dr. Paraskev Stoyanov" – Varna. He teaches neurology to students in Medicine, Dental Medicine, Midwifery, and Nursing.
Since 2020, Ch. Assist. Prof. Tihomir Drenski, MD, PhD has served as Head of the Intensive Care Unit for Neurological Diseases at St. Marina University Hospital. He is also an active member of the hospital's multidisciplinary team for endovascular treatment of acute ischemic stroke.
In 2021, he successfully defended his doctoral dissertation titled:
"Prolonged Multimodal Monitoring in Patients with Ischemic Stroke and Depressed Consciousness", earning the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).
