Since 2022 Dr. Alexander Zlatarov, PhD holds the position of Associate Professor at the Department of General and Operative Surgery.
He graduated from the First Language High School - Varna with honors in 2006. He studied Medicine at the Medical University – Varna. As an evaluation of his active scientific activity, even as a student, Associate Professor Zlatarov was awarded the Annual Award of the Municipality of Varna for high results in the field of "Humanities" in 2011.
He graduated in 2012 and in the same year joined the team of the First surgery clinic at "St. Marina" University Hospital Varna.
He obtained a specialty in Surgery in 2018.
In 2018, he defended his dissertation on the topic "New methods in the laparoscopic treatment of hiatal hernias" and obtained the educational and scientific degree "Doctor".
He is fluent in English, Russian and German.
His interests are focused on laparoscopic surgery, endoscopic procedures of the upper and lower gastrointestinal tract, benign and malignant diseases of the esophagus, stomach and liver, minimally invasive endocrine surgery of the adrenal gland.

His scientific activity is represented by 170 scientific articles and reports in Bulgaria and abroad, of which 73 in full, and 45 published in foreign scientific publications.Participates in the author's collective of three textbooks published abroad. There are 112 participations in conferences in Bulgaria, Romania, Austria, Great Britain, USA.
