Dr. Tsvetoslav Georgiev was born in 1987 in Burgas, Bulgaria. He completed his secondary education at the First Language School in Varna in 2006 and earned his medical degree from the Medical University of Sofia in 2012. He obtained his specialty in Rheumatology in 2018, the same year he defended his PhD thesis on osteoarthritis and was awarded a Doctorate in Rheumatology.
Since January 2022, he has held the academic position of Associate Professor at the First Department of Internal Medicine. In November 2023, he became Head of the Clinic of Rheumatology at St. Marina University Hospital, Varna. As of April 2025, he serves as Head of the Rheumatology Teaching Unit.
His main professional and research interests include early diagnosis and conservative treatment of osteoarthritis and spondyloarthritis, applications of artificial intelligence in medicine, imaging diagnostics, and musculoskeletal ultrasound. He holds EULAR certifications in joint ultrasound (advanced, level 1 competency) and has attended numerous national and international training courses in the field.

Dr. Georgiev has authored over 80 full-text publications in Bulgarian and international peer-reviewed journals, with a cumulative impact factor exceeding 100 and more than 900 citations in international literature. He has participated in numerous national and international conferences. He is a co-author of the Bulgarian consensus on the diagnosis and treatment of osteoarthritis and the EULAR recommendations on non-pharmacological treatment of knee and hip osteoarthritis.

Dr. Georgiev is an Associate Editor of Rheumatology International and serves as Editor for Research Integrity and Social Media for the Bulgarian journal Rheumatology. He is also a member of the editorial boards of several international peer-reviewed journals, including BMC Rheumatology, SN Comprehensive Clinical Medicine, World Journal of Clinical Cases, and the Central Asian Journal of Medical Hypotheses and Ethics (CAJMHE).
