Dr. Petar Atanasov Kosev was born in 1984. In 2003, he graduated from the Mathematics High School “Dr. Petar Beron" in Varna. He completed his higher education in Medicine in 2009 at the Medical University “Prof. Dr. Paraskev Stoyanov" – Varna. As part of the Erasmus student mobility program, he undertook pre-graduate internships in Surgery and Pediatrics at the University Hospital in Bari, Italy. At the end of his studies, he received a national award within the European Commission's celebration of the 2,000,000th Erasmus student.
He obtained a specialty in Urology in 2016, and since 2015, he has served as an Assistant Professor at the Department of General Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Medical University – Varna. In 2022, he earned a PhD degree after defending a dissertation titled: “Specifics, diagnostic approach and treatment strategy for patients with pyonephrosis. Analysis of hospitalized patients over a 5-year period," under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Valentina Madjova, PhD. In the same year, he was promoted to Chief Assistant Professor in the department.
His career began in 2010 as a resident physician in the Nephrology Clinic – Transplantation Sector at University Hospital “St. Marina" – Varna. He later completed his specialization and worked until 2018 in the Urology Clinic at the same hospital under Prof. Dr. Alexander Hinev, PhD. During this time, he was also part of a multidisciplinary team responsible for managing disorders of sex development (DSD) at the same institution. From 2018 to 2025, he worked as a urologist at the Urology Clinic of “St. Anna" Hospital – Varna, under Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tosho Ganev, PhD.
Since 2025, he has continued his practice as a urologist in the Urology Clinic of “St. Marina" University Hospital – Varna, again under Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tosho Ganev, PhD.
He is fluent in English, Russian, German, and Italian.
Dr. Kosev has authored over 50 articles and publications in Bulgarian and international journals and has participated in more than 50 scientific congresses and conferences.

Dr. Kosev is a member of the Bulgarian Medical Association, the European Association of Urology (EAU), the Bulgarian Association of Urology, and the European Academy of Teachers in General Practice and Family Medicine (EURACT).
