Биография

Born in 1975 in the city of Silistra. He graduated with full honours from the High School of Mathematics "St. St. Kliment Ohridski",  Silistra in 1994. In the year 2000, he graduated with full honours from the Medical University of Sofia and was awarded the “Golden Hippocrates" award and the right to a free residency of his choice. He specialised in the university clinics of neurosurgery at the hospitals "Alexandrovska" and "St. Ivan Rilski". Since 2006, he has been a certified neurosurgeon. In 2007 he defended his doctoral dissertation on the topic "Application of Neuronavigation in Cranial Neurosurgery", with scientific supervisor Prof. V. Busarsky. Until February 2011, he was a neurosurgeon at the Clinic of Neurosurgery at the University Hospital "St. Ivan Rilski", leading the Neurosurgery Student Club and served as an honorary assistant professor at the Department of Neurosurgery at the Medical University of Sofia. Since March 2011, he has been the Head of the newly established Department of Neurosurgery at the University Hospital "St. Marina" in Varna, which later expanded into a full Clinic of Neurosurgery with the highest Third level of competence. Since July 2012, he has been an Associate Professor of Neurosurgery at the Department of Neurosurgery and ENT Diseases, Medical University of Varna. In 2015, he defended his second dissertation on the topic "Preventable Errors and Complications in Neurosurgery" and was awarded the academic degree "Doctor of Science in Medicine." Since February 2016, he has been a Professor of Neurosurgery at the Department of Neurosurgery and ENT Diseases, Medical University of Varna. Since 2016, he has served as Chairman of the Control Committee of the Medical University of Varna. From 2017 to 2019, he was a member of the Executive Council of the "Scientific Research Fund" at the Ministry of Education and Science, overseeing the field of medicine. In October 2018, he was elected Vice President of the Bulgarian Society of Neurosurgery. Since November 2018, he has been the Head of the Department of Neurosurgery and ENT Diseases, Medical University of Varna.

During his time as a medical student, neurosurgery resident, and certified neurosurgeon, he completed numerous long-term and short-term specialisations, courses, and participated in congresses and symposiums at several leading medical and neurosurgical centres in Brazil, Spain, Egypt, Croatia, Italy, Georgia, Germany, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Japan, England, Scotland, France, Hungary, Monaco, Romania, Turkey, South Korea, Taiwan, the United States, Morocco, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Austria, Estonia, and Australia.

Volunteer - Training Neurosurgeon in Peru (November 2008) and Ethiopia (November 2009).

Master's degree in Health Management, Medical University of Varna, 2009.

Licensed by the General Medical Council (GMC) of UK since 2010.

Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (FRCS) since 2013.

Numerous publications in international and Bulgarian scientific journals with a total impact factor exceeding 44 and over 100 citations in foreign journals. Regular reviewer for leading international neurosurgical journals with high impact factors, including Acta Neurochirurgica, Child's Nervous System, Clinical Neurology and Neurosurgery, Journal of Neurosciences in Rural Practice, Neurosurgical Review, and Turkish Neurosurgery.
