The discipline "Internal Medicine" is taught in the department, including the disciplines "Cardiology" and "Rheumatology. It is studied during the VII and VIII semesters of the training of medical students and ends with an exam after the end of the VIII semester. The department conducts a state internship for 90 days for medical students, VI year, in the discipline "Internal Medicine", which ends with a state exam. Specializations are held in the specialties "Cardiology", "Rheumatology". The training of medical students includes the freely elective discipline "Cardiology". Associates of the Department have participated in a published textbook on internal medicine under the editorship of Prof. D. Dimitrakov, 2006, Medical University – Plovdiv. The training of medical students in the discipline "Internal Medicine" follows the algorithm of the textbook Harrison's Principles of Internal Medicine. All innovations arising from consensus national documents and the European recommendations for the relevant disease are included in the teaching in a timely manner.
Doctoral Student Guidance:
Habilitated lecturers in the First Department of Internal Medicine supervise PhD students in full-time, part-time and independent training individually and jointly with habilitated lecturers from other departments.
