Биография

She was born on 04.06.1962 in the town of, Malko Tarnovo, Burgas district. She graduated from high school in 1980 with a gold medal of the Ministry of Education and Science, and acquired master's degree in medicine at Medical University - Varna in 1986. In 2009 she defended her thesis on "Studies on the specifics of the course of some infectious diseases in adults over 60 years of age". In 2011, she was elected Associate Professor and in 2018 Professor of Infectious Diseases. From 2005 to 2012 she was the Head of the 1st Department of the Infectious Diseases Clinic at Multyprofile Hospital “St. Marina"- Varna, and from 2012 to the present she is the head of the First Clinic of Infectious Diseases of the University Multyprofile Hospital "St. Marina"- Varna. In the period 2012-2015 she was Head of the Department of Infectious Diseases, Epidemiology and Tropical Medicine, from 2015 to 2020 Head of the Department of Infectious Diseases, Parasitology and Dermatovenerеology, and since 2021 Head of the Educational Sector of Infectious Diseases and Parasitology of the same Department.
She participated in the development and implementation of a scientific project funded by the Science Fund of the Medical University "Infections in Persons 60+" and in the development and implementation of the "National Program for Control and Treatment of Rotavirus Gastroenteritis". She completed a training course in abdominal ultrasound and otoscopy. In 2014, she participated in the first international seminar on anti-terrorism, held at the University Hospital "St. Marina" - Varna under the auspices of the Israeli ambassador to our country and the Israeli Institute for Anti-Terrorism, for which she also received a certificate.
In 2017/2018, she completed a course in health management. She is included in the State Examination Commission for acquiring a specialty in infectious diseases, participates in the editorial board of the journal "Science Infectology and Parasitology", is a member of the Scientific Juries on Infectious Diseases. Professor Dr. M. Gospodinova has been a Republican consultant on infectious diseases for Northeastern Bulgaria since 2011. Since 2014, she has been a member of the Municipal Epizootic Commission, a member of the Bulgarian Society of Infectious Diseases, the South Bulgarian Society of Infectious Diseases, Bulgarian Medical Association and a member of the Executive Committee of the Varna division of Union of Scientists in Bulgaria.
Prof. Dr Gospodinova leads the lecture course on infectious diseases for 5th year medical students; lecture course on infectious diseases for 4th year dental students; lecture course on infectious diseases for students of the Healthcare Management; lecture course on infectious diseases for nurses and midwives; lecture course on infectious diseases for students at the Medical College-Varna.
Since 2014, she conducts a basic course for specialisation in infectious diseases. She is the head of the training of residents and doctoral students in infectious diseases. Under her supervision, three doctoral students have defended their dissertations: Dr Sevda Mileva, Assoc. Prof. DrDiana Radkova, Assoc. Prof. DrIliyan Todorov, and she currently supervises the doctoral studies of four more: Dr Ekaterina Lyutsova, Dr Minas Kozmidis, Dr Meliz Gursel and Dr Bella Naydenova.

Prof. Dr Gospodinova's main scientific research is in the field of infectious diseases in the elderly, emergent infections, airborne and neuroinfections, mixed forms of infectious diseases, intestinal infections, viral hepatitis, etc.
She is the author and co-author of over 192 publications in Bulgarian and international journals, including 3 monographs and 14 textbooks. She has participated in over 85 national and international scientific forums.
