Associate Professor Mihael Emilov Tsalta-Mladenov, MD, PhD was born on 13.02.1991 in the city of Varna. In 2010, he began studying medicine at the Medical University "Prof. Dr. Paraskev Stoyanov" – Varna, which he graduated from on 11.11.2016.
From 12.12.2016, he starts working as a physician at the Second Clinic of Nervous Diseases with the Department for Treatment of Acute Cerebral Stroke and the Department for Intensive Treatment of Neurological Diseases at University Multiprofile Hospital for Active Treatment "St. Marina" – Varna.
On 15.01.2018, he is enrolled as a full-time doctoral student at the Medical University "Prof. Dr. Paraskev Stoyanov" – Varna with a dissertation topic: "Quality of Life in Patients Surviving Ischemic Cerebral Stroke – Clinical-Social and Neuroimaging Studies."
From 23.01.2018, he is an adjunct assistant at the Department of Nervous Diseases and Neurosciences at the Medical University "Prof. Dr. Paraskev Stoyanov" – Varna.
From 01.06.2018, he is enrolled as a resident in Neurology.
On 08.09.2018, after a competition, he is selected as a full-time assistant at the Department of Nervous Diseases and Neurosciences at the Medical University "Prof. Dr. Paraskev Stoyanov" – Varna.
On 26.04.2021, he successfully defends a dissertation for awarding the educational and scientific degree "Doctor of Medicine" on the topic: "Quality of Life in Patients Surviving Ischemic Cerebral Stroke – Clinical-Social and Neuroimaging Studies."
From 01.06.2021, he is administrative assistant at the Department of Nervous Diseases and Neurosciences at the Medical University "Prof. Dr. Paraskev Stoyanov" – Varna.

From 13.12.2023, after a competition, he is selected as associate professor in the specialty "Neurology" at the Department of Nervous Diseases and Neurosciences at the Medical University "Prof. Dr. Paraskev Stoyanov" – Varna.
From 11.07.2024 – Head of the High-Tech Cerebrovascular Center at University Hospital "St. Marina" – Varna.
He has attended training courses in leading centers abroad – Switzerland, Hungary, Croatia, the Netherlands, Spain, and Germany.
He holds certificates for highly specialized activity (HSA) in: Evoked Potentials (EP); Ultrasound Doppler Sonography (UDSG); Clinical Electromyography (EMG); Clinical Electroencephalography (EEG).
Scientific Activity:
He actively participates annually in national and regional congresses, symposia, and forums. He has published a monograph titled: "Deep Brain Stimulation in Neurological Practice. When and How?"; more than 29 full-text publications in Bulgarian and foreign journals; more than 38 scientific reports at Bulgarian and foreign scientific forums with published abstracts in scientific journals; more than 17 participations with presentations at national and international scientific forums.
The scientific activity shows a personal Impact Factor (IF) of over 71, as well as over 80 citations.
His main professional and scientific interests are in the fields of:
- Cerebrovascular diseases,
- Differentiated treatment methods in acute ischemic stroke,
- Movement disorders,
- Application of deep brain stimulation in movement disorders,
- Spinal cord stimulation for chronic pain,
- Demyelinating and inflammatory diseases of the nervous system.
