Dr. Sevim Ahmed Shefket completed her secondary education in the city of Shumen in 2004 and received her medical degree in 2010 from the Medical University “Prof. Dr. Paraskev Stoyanov" in Varna, Bulgaria. Shortly after graduation, she began her medical career as a physician at the Center for Emergency Medical Care – Varna, and subsequently at Medical Center “South".
In 2014, she began her specialization in Clinical Laboratory at the same university. In 2016, she was appointed as a resident physician in Clinical Laboratory at the University Hospital “St. Marina" – Varna, where she successfully completed her specialist training. In 2019, she was officially certified as a Clinical Laboratory Specialist.
That same year, she was appointed as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Clinical Laboratory, Medical University – Varna. In 2022, she successfully defended her PhD dissertation titled “Predictive role of NGAL as an early marker of kidney injury in patients with type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus", and at the end of the year, she was promoted to Chief Assistant Professor in the same department.
Dr. Shefket is the author of 13 scientific publications and has presented her work at 10 national and international scientific conferences.

Her research focuses on the laboratory diagnosis of chronic kidney disease and diabetic kidney disease.
