Dr. Snezana Atanasova was born on January 25, 1988, in Varna, Bulgaria. She graduated from the Third High School of Mathematics “Acad. Metodi Popov" in Varna in 2007, and in 2013 earned her medical degree from the Medical University “Prof. Dr. Paraskev Stoyanov" – Varna.
She began her specialization in Nephrology in 2015, and in 2018, after a successful competition, she was appointed as an assistant in Nephrology at the Second Department of Internal Medicine. In 2019, she acquired her specialty in Nephrology.
In 2022, Dr. Atanasova obtained her PhD in Nephrology with a dissertation titled:
“Evaluation and Dynamic Monitoring of Hyperphosphatemia as a Predictor of Mineral and Bone Disorders in Dialysis Patients."
Since 2023, she has held the position of Senior Assistant in the Teaching Sector of “Nephrology, Dialysis, and Toxicology" within the Second Department of Internal Medicine at MU–Varna.
She has published in both Bulgarian and international journals and has participated in numerous scientific symposia and conferences. Her main scientific interests include:
- Renal replacement therapy (RRT)
- Vascular access in RRT patients
- Rare diseases – such as Fabry disease
- Symptomatic renal anemia
In 2017 and 2018, she co-authored two student handbooks:
- “Practical Handbook of Nephrology and Clinical Cases on Kidney Diseases" (in English)
- “Guide to Nephrology and Renal Replacement Therapy" (in Bulgarian)
She has approximately 20 publications and has taken part in scientific congresses.
