Dr. Toni Dimitrov Kondev was born in 1985. He graduated with honors from the High School of Mathematics and Science “Acad. N. Obreshkov" in Burgas in 2004. In 2010, he completed his medical degree at Trakia University in Stara Zagora. After graduation, he began his career as a resident physician in the shock and trauma unit of University Hospital Burgas.
Since 2012, he has been working at the Clinic of Neurosurgery at University Hospital “St. Marina" in Varna, where he began his residency in neurosurgery in 2013. In 2017, he became an Assistant Professor at the Department of Neurosurgery and ENT Diseases at the Medical University of Varna. In 2018, he obtained his specialty in neurosurgery. In 2020, he was awarded a PhD degree after defending his dissertation on the topic “Intraoperative Ultrasound-Assisted Assessment of the Degree of Decompression in Lumbar Spinal Stenosis."
Throughout his training and career as a neurosurgeon, he has participated in numerous international courses, congresses, and symposia at various neurosurgical centers in the United States, Japan, Italy, Poland, Romania, Croatia, North Macedonia, and Serbia. In 2017, he was awarded a scholarship to attend the 45th Annual Meeting of the International Society for Pediatric Neurosurgery in Denver, USA (October 8-12, 2017).
His main professional interests focus on pediatric neurosurgery, the refinement of neurosurgical techniques, and the implementation of innovative intraoperative imaging approaches in neurosurgery.
Member of the Bulgarian Society of Neurosurgery. Since 2016, he has been a member of the International Spinal Society AoSpine.
