Yanko Yankov was born in the city of Shumen, Bulgaria.
He graduated with honors from the High School of Science and Mathematics “Nancho Popovich" – city of Shumen, Bulgaria in 2008.
In 2014, he graduated in medicine with excellent GPA of 6.00 (out of 6.00) at the Medical University "Prof. Dr. Paraskev Stoyanov" – city of Varna, Bulgaria, and he was awarded the most prestigious awards for students of medicine – "Golden Hippocrates" and "First Degree" award from the Bulgarian Medical Union for excellent GPA and contribution to the medical community.
From May 2015 till May 2020, he specialized in maxillofacial surgery at the Clinic of Maxillofacial Surgery at the University hospital “Sveta Marina" in the city of Varna, Bulgaria.
In 2016, he graduated from the master's degree in Health Management at the Medical University "Prof. Dr. Paraskev Stoyanov" – city of Varna, Bulgaria.
Since February 2019, he has been working as a part-time assistant in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (Faculty of Dental Medicine) and the Department of General and Operative Surgery (Faculty of Medicine) at the Medical University "Prof. Dr. Paraskev Stoyanov" – city of Varna, Bulgaria.
In October 2019, after winning a competition, he was appointed as a full-time assistant in Maxillofacial Surgery at the Department of General and Operative Surgery, Faculty of Medicine at the same educational institution.
In July 2020, he acquired a specialty in maxillofacial surgery and since then he has been working as a specialist in maxillofacial surgery at the Clinic of Maxillofacial Surgery at the University Hospital "Sveta Marina" – city of Varna, Bulgaria.
From September 2021 to September 2022, he was a doctoral student (free-form) in Surgery at the same department and in December 2022, he successfully defended his dissertation on the topic "Procalcitonin and the delta neutrophil index levels in the surgery of head and neck inflammatory diseases", obtaining the educational and scientific degree "Doctor of philosophy" (PhD).
From July 2023, after winning a competition, he has held the administrative position of chief assistant in Maxillofacial Surgery at the Department of General and Operative Surgery, Faculty of Medicine of the Medical University "Prof. Dr. Paraskev Stoyanov" – city of Varna, Bulgaria.
Since December 2024, after winning a competition, he has been an associate professor of Maxillofacial Surgery in the same department of the same higher education institution.
