Graduated in 1995 in Vasil Karagyozov Language High School - Yambol English profile. Graduated in Medicinein Medical University "Prof. Dr. Paraskev Stoyanov" - Varna in 2001. Acquired a specialty in Clinical Laboratory in 2008 and a Master's degree in Health Management in 2010. Since 2005 she has been an assistant professor at the Department of General Medicine and Clinical Laboratory. In 2015, she defended her PhDin medicine on "Predictive value of some tumor markers in follow-up of cancer patients -verification FDG PET/CT" and obtained the degree of Doctor of Medicine. In 2016 she was habilitated as Associate Professor in the scientific specialty of Clinical Laboratory Science. For the period 2018-2021 she is the Head of the Board of Clinical Laboratory at the Department of General Medicine and Clinical Laboratory, and from 2021 she is the Head of the newly established Department of Clinical Laboratory. In 2023, he acquired the academic position of Professor.

He has authored over 100 full-text publications and more than 40 published abstracts in international scientific forums, mainly in the field of laboratory oncology and endocrinology. For the period 2012-2018, he participated in expert boards for the creation of clinical management guidelines for NETs, Breast Cancer, Ovarian Cancer, Melanoma, Neuroblastoma in children, and predictive biomarkers. In 2016 he published "Serum markers in solid tumors".
Since 2021, she has been the Secretary of the Board of the Bulgarian Society of Clinical Laboratory and was elected as the President of the Society for the period 2023-2025. She is a member of the Bulgarian Society of Endocrinology; International Society of Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH).
Prof. Dr. Yana Bocheva is the National Representative of Bulgaria in the International Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (IFCC).
