He was born in 1965 in the city of Shumen. He graduated in medicine from the Medical University of Varna in 1991 and began his academic career in 1993 as an assistant in the ES of Pathophysiology. His professional advancement includes promotion to Senior Assistant in 1998 and Chief Assistant from 2003 to 2016. Since 2006, he has also been a Chief Assistant in the Department of Medical and Biological Sciences at the Faculty of Dental Medicine, and since 2008, in the Department of Preclinical and Clinical Sciences at the Faculty of Pharmacy. He obtained his specialization in Pathophysiology in 1998. Dr. Marinov has participated in collaborative scientific projects related to thermal injury, coagulation disorders, and the pathophysiology of depressive states. In 2014, he began an independent doctoral program on the topic “The Role of the Endocannabinoid System in Behavioral Responses in Depression-like States," which he successfully defended in 2019. As of 2023, he holds the position of Chief Assistant in the Department of Pathophysiology.
He is the author of one monograph, a co-author of one textbook, and co-author of seven teaching aids in pathophysiology.
He delivers lectures and seminars in pathophysiology to students in the specialties of medicine, dental medicine, pharmacy, and pharmacy assistant programs.
He has authored over 50 scientific publications and has participated in more than 32 national and international scientific forums.
Main scientific interests: brain function lateralization, the endocannabinoid system, and depressive disorders.
