GENERAL ASSEMBLY

The General Assembly is the supreme governing body of the University, which consists of habilitated lecturers, representatives of non-habilitated lecturers, of undergraduate and doctoral students and administrative staff.

The total number of members of the supreme governing body of the University is 140 people.



The distribution of the number of members of the General Assembly - 140 by quotas, is as follows:
1. Habilitated persons under an employment contract with Medical University - Varna - not less than 70% of the members of the General Assembly;
2. Representatives of non-habilitated lecturers under an employment contract - up to 13%;
3. Representatives of undergraduate and doctoral students - not less than 15%;
4. Representatives of administrative staff - not less than 2%.
 
The determination of the number of representatives from the different quotas in reference to the main units is proportional to the number of academic staff in the respective unit.
 
The General Assembly at MU-Varna:

  • Elects, for its term of office, by secret ballot, a President and Vice- Presidents of the General Assembly from its habilitated members who on the day of the election shall have not less than 10 consecutive years of work experience under an employment contract with the University (for a President) and 5 (for a Vice- President), and in respect of whom there shall be no grounds for termination of the employment contract over the term of office;
  • Adopts and amends the Rules of Procedure of the University;
  • Elects a habilitated person for a Rector of the University by secret ballot;
  • Determines the number of members of the Academic Council and elects its members by secret ballot;
  • Determines the number of members of the Supervisory Board and elects, for the term of office, its President, Vice- President and members from the habilitated persons and one representative of the Student Council;
  • Considers and adopts the annual report of the Rector on the activities of the University and its status.
