Prof. Albena Kerekovska, MD, PhD
She graduated from the First Language School - Varna, English Language Teaching. After that she graduated Medicine from the Medical University - Varna in 1990. Since 1995 she has been an Assistant Professor at the Department of Social Medicine and Organization of Health Care and since 2007 – an Associate Professor at the same Department. Acquired specialty in "Social Medicine and Health Management" in 1999. In 2004 she defended a dissertation thesis in the UK, entitled "International Politics of Health Promotion and Tobacco Control - Improvement of the Process of Transcultural Transfer".
She has over 60 publications and approximately 50 participations at scientific conferences. The main research developments are in the field of Health Policy; Health Promotion; Determinants of Public Health; Inequalities in Health; Contemporary
Bioethical Issues; Training and Professionalization of Public Health.
Member of: European Public Health Association, Bulgarian Association of Healthcare Management, Scientific Society for Social Medicine, Union of Scientists in Bulgaria (USB), Bulgarian Medical Association (BMA); Expert in Bioethics at UNESCO.
