Assoc. Prof. Galina Petrova was born on December 28, 1976, in the city of Varna. In 1994, she completed her secondary education at “St. Kliment Ohridski" Secondary School in the town of Dalgopol. She graduated with a Master's degree in Health Management from the Medical University of Varna (class of 2002). In 2020, she completed a second Master's degree in "Economics and Business Management" at “Episkop Konstantin Preslavski" Shumen University.
In 2012, she obtained the educational and scientific degree of “Doctor" in "Organization and Management outside the sphere of material production (in Healthcare)" from the Medical University of Varna. Her dissertation is titled "Strategic Choice and Model of Integrated Health Care in the Republic of Bulgaria in the Context of EU Membership."
In addition to her teaching activities, Assoc. Prof. Galina Petrova has more than 15 years of practical experience in the field of pharmaceutical sales.
Her academic career began with winning a competitive selection for the position of Assistant Professor at the Department of "Health Economics and Management" at the Faculty of Public Health, Medical University – Varna (2008), followed by her promotion to Senior Assistant Professor in the same department (2013). She became an Associate Professor in the Department of "Pharmaceutical Sciences and Pharmaceutical Management" at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Medical University – Varna in November 2015. She has acquired two medical specialties: “Health Economics" (since 2007) and “Organization and Economics of Pharmaceutical Production" (since 2019).
Teaching Activity:
Assoc. Prof. Galina Petrova delivers lectures and leads practical seminars in the programs of Pharmacy, Technology and Innovation Transfer in Pharmacy, Cosmetology, Pharmaceutical Management, Rehabilitation, Marine Therapy, Wellness and SPA, all at the Master's level. She is the Chairperson of the State Examination Board for the specialty “Organization and Economics of Pharmaceutical Production" (for biologists, economists, chemists, and chemical engineers). She is also a member of the State Examination Board for Health Economics (for non-medically educated individuals). She leads a student club on “Entrepreneurship in Pharmacy." She teaches various Continuing Medical Education (CME) theoretical courses. She has supervised 2 PhD students (in progress), 18 master's theses, and 16 postgraduates specializing through CME.

She has over 90 publications and more than 80 participations in scientific conferences in Bulgaria and abroad. Her main research work focuses on integrated care for chronic diseases (diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, osteoarthritis, etc.), distribution policy, health tourism, SPA, wellness, organizational culture, and others.
