Scientific and research activity

The academic staff of the Department of "Organization and Economics of Pharmacy" maintains high activity in scientific research, expert and consulting activities. All lecturers have excellent theoretical and practical training, high professionalism and experience in scientific and experimental work.

All research in the Department of "Organization and Economics of Pharmacy" of MU-Varna is aimed at actively creating new scientific knowledge or scientific and applied products, subordinate to national priorities in the field of pharmacy and healthcare, as well as for substantiating and developing the training of students, doctoral students and postgraduates (Art. 61(1) of the Higher Education Act).

The Department of "Organization and Economics o​f Pharmacy" works actively in the following scientific areas:

The scientific topics of the dissertations developed under the supervision of the habilitated persons in the Department of Pharmacy Organization and Economics are:

  • “Centralized dissolution of medicinal products for systemic treatment of malignant diseases in hospital pharmacies in Bulgaria – specifics, challenges and prospects"
  • “Study of the possibilities of pharmaceutical care for improving therapeutic outcomes and preventing complications in patients with ankylosing spondylitis"
  • “Provision of clinical services and integrated care by the hospital pharmacist for patients with hematological diseases"
  • "Role of the hospital pharmacist in the pharmacotherapy of malignant diseases with medicinal products containing narcotic substances"
  • “Monitoring the safety of investigational medicinal products through the application of digital technologies"
  • “Application of pharmacoeconomics in the process of developing new medicinal products and medical devices"
  • “Pharmacoeconomic evaluation of pharmacy services for patients with degenerative diseases of the central nervous system"
  • “The patient and the pharmacist in the digital environment: an analysis of challenges, opportunities and risks for health outcomes"
  • “The role of the pharmacist in managing drug-related problems during pregnancy and improving health-related quality of life"

The department is also developing a dissertation for the degree of “Doctor of Science" on the topic: “Social, economic and pharmacoeconomic analysis of the introduction of comprehensive genomic profiling in patients with oncological diseases".
