The Department of "Pharmaceutical Chemistry" is a unit of the Faculty of Pharmacy, uniting the profile disciplines 'Pharmaceutical Chemistry', 'Pharmaceutical Analysis' and 'Organic Chemistry' included in the curriculum for the training of students in the specialty 'Master of Pharmacy'. The academic staff of the department maintains a high level of activity in expert and consulting activities. The habilitated lecturers have very good theoretical and practical training, high professionalism and many years of experience in educational, scientific and research and practical work.
Scientific and research activity is an integral part of the overall, diverse and creative activity of the Academic community of the Medical University - Varna (Art. 180 of the Regulations of the Medical University - Varna, 2013) including the Department of "Pharmaceutical Chemistry".
The primary objectives of the scientific research activity of the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry are:
Development of pharmaceutical science in the context of national and international educational strategies, standards and practices;
Promoting the scientific development of the academic staff, as a process of self-improvement in a specific scientific field, to achieve effective educational and scientific research activity;
Stimulating the creative and professional performances of the academic staff by: creating conditions for the formation of scientific teams; attracting researchers with different positions in the educational process - teachers and students; giving priority to international programs and partnership projects with public and social organizations;
Scientific research activity is based on the principles of ethics, transparency, publicity, accessibility and applicability.
The main forms of scientific research activity of the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry are:
1. Participation on a competitive basis with projects at the National Council for Scientific Research;
2. Inclusion through competitions in planned topics or projects within the framework of international scientific cooperation within the framework of the European Community and other organizations;
3. Inclusion through a competition in scientific projects within the framework of inter-university cooperation, which are financed by MU - Varna, state institutions, universities, laboratories, sponsoring companies, foundations, private individuals and non-governmental organizations;
4. Inclusion in developments under projects of the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education, Youth and Science on priority scientific and applied problems of health and medical and biological sciences;
5. Developments of specific problems mainly of regional importance, on issues of prevention and treatment of significant diseases on a contractual basis with various clients;
6. Participation in scientific forums in the country and abroad;
7. Active publication activity in our country and abroad;
8. Creation of adequate structures to encourage students and doctoral candidates to participate in scientific research activities, including projects, publications, circles (Student Scientific Society, School for Doctoral Students, etc.).
