Born on 11.10.1959 in the village of Sokolovo, Dobrich Region. In 1977, he completed his secondary education in the city of Varna. In 1980, he began to study medicine at the Higher Medical Institute –Varna, renamed in 1995 to Medical University- Varna and graduated it in 1986. The same year he started working as a physician in the second internal department of the Regional Hospital of Preslav, where he worked for four years.
Since the 10th December 1990, he has been working in the toxicology clinic of the Military Medical Academy –MBAL (Multidisciplinary Hospital for Active Treatment) -Varna. In 1993, he acquired a specialty in internal medicine, and in 1996 - in clinical toxicology. In 2004, after a dissertation defense, he was awarded the educational and scientific degree "PhD" in Toxicology. In 2010, he occupied the academic position "Associate Professor" at MU-Varna. Since 1993, he has been teaching Clinical toxicology to the 5th year medical students and trainee doctors of the Medical University of Varna. Since 1996, he has been a National consultant in clinical toxicology for North-Eastern Bulgaria. Since 2013, he has a master's degree in Health Management.
Since 2018, he obtained a scientific degree "Professor" and head of the Department of Pharmacology, Toxicology and Pharmacotherapy at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Medical University - Varna.
From June 2020 to July 2024, Prof. Marinov is the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy of the Medical University - Varna.
