Educational activity

The Department of Pharmacology, Toxicology and Pharmacotherapy at the Faculty of Pharmacy provides training in the following disciplines:

  • Pharmacology", Toxicology", Pharmacotherapy", “Basics of Clinical Pharmacy", Introduction to Medicine" and part of the training course in the discipline Biopharmacy and Pharmacokinetics" for students of the specialty Pharmacy";
  • Pharmacology" and Toxicology" for students of the specialty Assistant-pharmacist";
  • Pharmacology" for students of the specialty Medical Laboratory Assistant";
  • Pharmacology" for students of the specialty X-ray Laboratory Assistant";
  •  Clinical Toxicology" as part of the training course in Internal Medicine for students of the specialty Medicine".

The Department of Pharmacology, Toxicology and Pharmacotherapy provides training in the following elective subjects included in the training program for pharmacy students:

  • “Drug addiction" – for 3rd, 4th or 5th year pharmacy students;
  • “Clinical Toxicology. Intoxications with Narcotic Substances" – for 5th year medicine students;
  • ​“Basics of homeopathic therapy" – for 3rd, 4th or 5th year pharmacy students.

The following doctoral programs are accredited to the Department of Pharmacology, Toxicology and Pharmacotherapy of the Faculty of Pharmacy: Pharmacology (incl. Pharmacokinetics and Chemotherapy)" in professional field 7.3. Pharmacy; Toxicology" in professional field 7.3. Pharmacy and Toxicology" in professional field 7.1. Medicine. The Department provides training for postgraduate students in the following specialties:

  • Pharmacology and pharmacotherapy" – for master of pharmacy;
  • “Clinical pharmacy" – for master of pharmacy;
  • Pharmacology" – for master of medicine;
  • Toxicology and toxicological analysis" – for master of pharmacy;
  • Toxicology" – for master of medicine;
  • Toxicology" – for persons with non-medical education.

As of April 2025, 8 doctoral students and more than 10 specialists are being trained in the Department.

The overall concept of the training conducted at the Department of Pharmacology, Toxicology and Pharmacotherapy is aimed at ensuring that students, respectively postgraduates and doctoral students, receive modern and in-depth knowledge, enabling future pharmacists to work successfully in different types of pharmacies, in pre-hospital and hospital care, in the pharmaceutical industry, in specialized, control and industrial laboratories, in research and applied institutes and, last but not least, to carry out academic activities. The training carried out at the highest professional level is a guarantee for providing quality pharmaceutical service, as well as for conducting adequate pharmacological and pharmacotherapeutic consultations.
