Dr. Vasileva graduated Medical University of Varna with a master's degree in specialties' Health Care Management (1999) and Public Health (2007).
Dr. Vasileva commenced her academic career in 2001 as a part-time assistant professor, and since 2003 – assistant professor, senior assistant professor, administrative and chief assistant professor in the Department of Social Medicine and Health Care Organization of MU-Varna.
She participated in short-term and long-term trainings, courses, summer schools and specializations for qualification improvement in the field of teaching and research in Bulgaria and Europe (University of Nottingham Medical School; London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine; École des Hautes Études en Santé Publique - Rennes, France).
She obtained a specialty in Medical Informatics and Health Management in 2007.
In 2016, she defended the doctoral thesis on Regional inequalities in Mortality in Bulgaria and obtained a Ph.D. in Public Health Management.
She holds lectures and seminars in the bachelor and master programs in Bulgarian and English. Research supervisor and reviewer of graduate students in the master's programs. Scientific supervisor of postgraduate students in the specialty Medical Informatics and Health Management.
Her research interests are in the field of epidemiology of socially significant diseases, health inequalities, health databases and health information systems.
Author of a number of publications and participation in scientific events abroad and in the country.
She participates in national and international projects - researcher in "Diet and Strokes Study, Varna", funded by Wellcome Trust London; administrator of the project of ASPHER and Open Society - "Quality Development in Public Health Programmes in Central and Eastern Europe"; researcher in project "Еlectronic register of stroke, diabetes and diabetic retinopathy for the study of the epidemiology of diseases and the effectiveness of their management" - - Science Fund - Medical University of Varna; researcher in project "Application of geographic information systems for assessing health inequalities in Bulgaria" - Science Fund - Medical University of Varna.
